We have just seen HP’s new standalone MediaSmart Receiver for use with “standard” HDTVs. Now they have announced two new MediaSmart HDTVs with the same technology inbuilt.
The HP MediaSmart SL4282N and SL4782N feature the Microsoft Extenders for Windows Media Center platform allowing a whole bunch of multimedia playback and streaming. Details are a bit weak at the moment but we do know that the HP SL4282N features a 42-inch 1080p LCD screen, while the HP SL4782N features a larger 47-inch 1080p LCD screen.
Both of the MediaSmart SL4282N, SL4782N are full HD with a 1080p LCD panel and feature HP’s Visual Fidelity Engine for image enhancement, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 500cd/m2 brightness, 176 degree viewing angle and a fast 6ms response time. Both function as MCE and can play back H.264, DivX, XviD, MPEG-2 and WMV and have internal ATSC and clear-QAM tuners.
Inputs are the same on both with 3x HDMI inputs, 2x component, 2x composite, s-video and a PC VGA input.
But wait, there’s more: current MediaSmart HDTV owners will receive a software update that adds the latest Media Center Extender software, giving them access to these new updates and codecs.
